X-Ray Scanner grading line
In our new factory, completed in late 2025, the kiln dried boards are first X-rayed. They pass through the X-ray scanner, an advanced system that scans each board to detect internal and external defects beyond the limits of visual grading. AI-driven analysis and X-ray strength grading enable precise, real-time classification, ensuring only structurally sound timber progresses through the planer line.

Scanned, pressure treated and packed for delivery
The boards are then split and planed before passing through the final check point. Four cameras scan the four faces of each batten to confirm it meets the grading requirements of BS 5534. Any that do not are rejected here and those that do go on to be stamped, bundled and made into packs. Lastly, each pack goes to the treatment plant where the Vacsol Aqua preservative, with the bright yellow dye, is applied.
